authentic ranch life

Experience life on a real Texas cattle ranch

Being family owned and operated means we work hard, we play hard and when it's time to unwind, we know how to gather and celebrate.  The hours are long and the responsibilities vast and constantly changing.  But managing our land and our animals is our life...everyday.

Open Range Horseback Riding

Our guided, open range horseback riding is the best way to experience the ranch.  The most popular activity on the ranch, we can accommodate all skill levels, and guests' safety is our biggest priority.  All riders are given basic lesson in horsemanship and riding to build trust between rider and horse.  Once able to handle the horse safely, riders are taken out in the pastures, usually in groups of 5 to 6,  where they often see the Texas Longhorns, buffalo and wildlife.

Bullwhip Cracking

working cowboys teach the skill, importance and reasoning behind use of the bullwhip when herding cattle and moving cattle

Tomahawk Throwing

just like the Indians that used to roam and fought on the ranch with early settlers, the guests learn to throw hatchets at wooden targets – very addictive

Bass Fishing

professional fishing guide teaches catch and release fishing for bass, crappie and bluegill.  Fish caught by group can be cooked onsite

ATV Ranch Tours

a one hour guided tour of the ranch on all terrain vehicles which take guests over the ranch to see the livestock – longhorns, horses, bison, wild turkeys, goats, chickens, organic gardens with commentary on the ranch efforts to restore and preserve native habitat

Dummy Roping

ranch cowboys demonstrate roping techniques and teach guests the skill of steer roping on foot

Shooting

shotgun shooting similar to bird hunting includes handler, shotgun, ammo, targets and launcher

All guests participating in activities must sign a release of liability releasing the ranch, ranch cowboys and owners of any liability for injury.
